Rocklin's Patriot Day

Now we are in September, and Rocklin has their
2nd annual Patriot Day Celebration. It is a day
for the city to celebrate its heroes and there are
many displays, police, fire and the military show up
with vehicles to look at and for the kids to climb in.
Many local vendors have booths there as well.
Parker and Jack had a good time climbing
in the all the vehicles and the Sheriff's Dept.
helicopter even landed in the parking lot and
they got a chance to sit in it.

Miscellaneous Pictures from August

Hannah and her friend found this box
in front of a neighbor's house and brought it
home, why, I don't really know but
Parker and his friend Jack discovered it in
the garage and have had loads of fun playing
in it inside and outside the house.

Parker's cub scout pack's popcorn fundraiser
started in August.  Since I was co-popcorn
kernel and setting up and taking down the tables
at the stores, Parker filled in the schedule when
ever there was an opening.  He worked many hours
and sold quite a bit of popcorn, such a trooper.
Our pack did really well this year exceeding what
we sold last year by quite a bit.

Hayley's New Car

Since Hayley's college schedule this year was
different than her friend she had been carpooling
with, we finally had to break down and get her
her first car.  It is a Hyundai Elantra and she
really loves it and has been enjoying driving
herself to school and around town.

It's like a mini version of Tim's Sonata.

Camping Trip

Our first pack camping trip of the summer was at the
Boy Scout camp Marin Sierra in the Tahoe National
Forest.  It was a nice camp and we had a good time
hiking, going swimming in Lake Spaulding (though
the water was freezing cold) and having fun
sitting around the campfire at night roasting
marshmallows and telling jokes and scary
stories. Some of the boy scouts from Troop
29 joined us and were helpful in showing
our cub scouts how to tie knots and whittle.

We drove a few miles from our camp to Lake Spaulding.
It was a beautiful day and the lake and scenery was
gorgeous.  The water was pretty cold but the boys
didn't seem to care and had a blast swimming.

One of our cub scouts found a frog and it
really became attached to him.  Even when he
put it back in the lake, it would swim back
towards him and climb on him again.  It was
so cute to watch.

Parker got a chance to hold the frog.  He thought
it was pretty cool.  Such a boy.

At the campfire that night, the boy scouts performed
a funny skit for our boys.  They really liked it.
